Match report from the Faroese newspaper Sosialurin
Tomorrow, 19/06/01, B68 will travel to Belgium, where they Saturday will play the second leg in the Intertoto Cup, first round. Before this competition got underway, not many people had expected, that the Faroese team had any chance of qualifying to the second round. And after the 2-4 defeat in the first leg at home, all hope is gone for any more matches in the competition.
The first leg was not too bad for B68 Toftir after all. After a blunder in the B68 defence the visitors got a free chance. Mputu Bandu beat the offside trap and was alone with stand in 'keeper Kjartan Nesá.
But B68 came back. After half an hour Arnold Joensen took a short corner, John Heri Dam put in a cross from the right and Marcello Marcellino headed the ball home. And seven minutes later they scored again. Again Arnold Joensen was involved. He got a long pass down the right wing from Fróði Benjaminsen and crossed it into the penalty area. The Lokeren defence seemed to have the ball under control, but Súni FrÃði Johannesen came in the way, and B68 was in the lead 2-1.In the last attack of the first half Lokeren managed to equalize. After a throw in the ball came across from the right side, and Karim Elbodmossi was left unmarked and with his left foot he put the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Lokeren rested many of their regular players and they had only fifteen players for the match. Their international goalkeeper from the Czech Republic was rested as well as the Icelandic players. Therefore they fielded a young and inexperienced team, but in the second half it became more and more obvious that they were in much better form than the B68 players. The last twenty minutes there was no air left in the Toftir players, and they could easily have lost more than 2-4. The marking became lose, and several times the visitors outnumbered the home team when they got counter attacks.
Mid way through the second half Lokeren got the third goal. A long cross came in from the right and Elbodmossi headed the ball in almost from the dead ball line. Four minutes before the end of the match Lokeren grabbed a fourth goal through midfielder Okitankoyi Kimoto after B68 once again had lost the ball in the middle of the field.
